Connexions Théâtres

The Ontario Arts Council (OAC), an MTCS agency, launched a pilot project this year in four Ontario communities to support connections between Francophone theatre companies, the presenters or “centres culturels” that bring in touring productions, the audiences that attend performances, and the members of the public who participate in workshops and demonstrations.

Connexions Théâtres is modelled on the successful Ontario Dances program, which has been very effective in generating larger and more engaged audiences for Ontario dance. The aim of the program is to increase audience engagement by providing workshops and exposing audiences to the different theatre styles and productions that are available in their communities. The program will take place in Kingston, Hamilton, Hearst and Durham, where Francophone audiences do not have much access to their work.
