Christiane Scher ― I am pleased to welcome you to our offices today to mark a very important event for Francophone communities across Ontario.
Christiane Scher ― We have all gathered here today for the official signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages of Canada and the Office of the French Language Services Commissioner of Ontario. This is the first event of its kind in Canada.
Graham Fraser ― It is a symbol of good faith and collaboration between our two offices. This formalizes an informal relationship that already exists, and we thought it would be important for the future to make it more formal and turn this existing informal relationship into something permanent.
François Boileau ― We two commissioners are very proud to finally make our partnership official. We are already working together, but sporadically. However, I think that this agreement today allows us to really make it official. We are proud to show Ontarians that we’re working together for their best interests.
François Boileau ― I think it’s important for the public to know that we can work together, that we’re cooperating, and that we’re being as efficient as possible for the sake of Ontario’s Francophone community. And that’s what we’re doing here today.
François Boileau ― I think it’s a plus; it’s a matter of collaborating more effectively; it’s a matter of efficiency. It’s simply to make sure ― and it’s logical, it makes sense ― that the two offices can talk more, and not just talk more, but also that their staffs can talk freely.
Graham Fraser ― This is just the beginning. Let’s keep up the fight.
