Commissioner Fraser’s 7th Annual Report

RA GF ENMy colleague Graham Fraser just published his 7th Annual Report, which summarizes the numerous achievements and issues that have affected our country’s linguistic duality since his mandate began in 2006. To illustrate the current state of affairs of our nation’s linguistic duality, his report focuses on four questions that need to be addressed and woven with permanence into the future approach:

  • Is the federal government serving Canadians better in the official language of their choice?
  • Do federal employees feel more comfortable working in the official language of their choice?
  • Are official language communities better able to develop, thrive and achieve their full potential?
  • Are Canadians feeling more and more like they live in a country where linguistic duality is a fundamental value?

This report contains six important recommendations that focus, notably, on the immigration file, official languages training and justice. Bravo! I would like to personally congratulate my colleague Graham Fraser on this excellent  report, which makes for interesting reading for all.
