Champlain’s Dream by TFO

2013.10.30 - Billet Le Rêve de Champlain FR-ENLast week, the Groupe Média TFO announced the acquisition to the rights to produce a digital and audio-visual adaptation of Champlain’s Dream, a biography by Pulitzer Prize winning historian and author David Hackett Fisher.  This work represents a herculean research effort that revisits the vision of the great explorer who founded New-France, notably, in a geo-political context on both sides of the Atlantic.

It is a great undertaking of TFO to acquire the rights for the biographical adaptation of such a fascinating personality as Samuel de Champlain.

A series of interactive experiences over six episodes will include applications and web sites, including content developed specifically for teachers and students that includes maps, travel journals and the personal correspondence of Samuel de Champlain. The project will culminate in 2015 with the televised broadcast of a six-part docudrama as part of the celebrations for 400 years of French presence in Ontario.

Congratulations go out to both the author and to the Groupe Média TFO for this innovative and ambitious project!

This is a wonderful plan. Champlain’s Dream is a very excellent book, the research is top-notch and all Canadians should learn the story of Champlain and the philosophy and groundwork that he brought to the foundation of a just society in the new world.
