Meeting with the Centre de santé communautaire du Témiskaming and Earlton’s Francophone Community

Jocelyne Maxwell, directrice générale du Centre de santé communautaire du Témiskaming ; et François Boileau, commissaire aux services en français

I completed my three-day tour in the Temiskaming region yesterday by attending a meeting with Centre de santé communautaire du Témiskaming’s Board members. This was a great opportunity to discuss challenges relating to the access of French-language health services in the region

One of the issues remains the governance of institutions that deliver these services. There is a direct link between the governance of institutions by Francophones and the quality of services that these institutions offer to the population. Furthermore, we have to stay cautious when we refer to a population that is already vulnerable.

Several leaders of Earlton’s Francophone community who I also met with yesterday also brought this matter to my attention among other questions. More details about transformations within government can be found in Chapter 5 of my 2011-2012 Annual Report.

Thank you once again to all citizens of the Temiskaming region for their hospitality and warm welcome!
