Two New Centres for Francophones
The francophone communities of Timmins and Sarnia had good reasons to celebrate last week. They will both have their own centres for the Francophone population.
In Timmins, the Villa Renouvellement will be a shelter for francophone women, including a room for their children to play in.
One cannot underestimate the importance of such a centre for people who are already in a vulnarable state. Either for financial or legal advices, of for help in search of housing or jobs, theses women won’t have to face another important hurdle that can sometimes be their language.
In Sarnia, the community received the confirmation that an $8.5-million French community centre will be added to Ecole Secondaire St. Francois Xavier. Nearly 3,000 francophone families from this area will benefit from this future centre.
